Energoatom paid 100% of residential tariff compensation for 2023 amounting to almost UAH 128 bln – Petro Kotin

Energoatom keeps fulfilling service obligations to ensure the availability of electricity for household consumers (PSO). This service is designed to reduce the financial burden on Ukrainian families so that the price of electricity for citizens is lower.

In 2023, NNEGC completely fulfilled its obligations within PSO to provide the public with affordable electricity. Due to the quick and high-quality maintenance campaign, it was possible to increase the electricity production at the NPPs. Therefore, Energoatom had the opportunity to make payments for PSO.

"We conducted a maintenance campaign at each of the nine power units, and completed it ahead of schedule and with no loss in quality. The pace of this campaign made it possible to earn UAH 4 bln, which, in particular, was applied towards PSO fulfillment. Currently, all power units are reloaded with fresh nuclear fuel and have been providing heat and light to millions of Ukrainians for almost half of the winter," said Petro Kotin, Acting Board Chairman of JSC "NNEGC "Energoatom".

From the beginning of 2023, Energoatom paid SE "Guaranteed Buyer" UAH 127 bln 994 mln for PSO service, while the expected cost was more than 7 bln less. As a result, last year the Company managed to reduce the total debt for the payment of PSO services by almost UAH 4 bln.

As a reminder, Energoatom covers about 85% of the financial burden necessary for the fulfillment of service obligations to meet public interests.

The PSO in Ukraine was extended until April 30, 2024. Such a decision was made to decrease the financial burden on household consumers due to the difficult economic situation generated by the full-fledged military aggression of the russian federation. Therefore, the household electricity price will continue to be UAH 2.64 per kWh.
