On October 10, 2023, President of SE "NNEGC "Energoatom" Petro Kotin held an online meeting with President of Holtec SMR LLC Kelly Trice and Holtec Vice President of Ukraine Operations Riaz Awan. Technical professionals of both companies involved in the SMR project attended the meeting as well.
During the meeting, the parties announced the creation of project teams consisting of representatives of Energoatom and Holtec, who will provide technical support for the SMR project implementation in Ukraine. Agreements were reached on holding further regular meetings at the managerial and expert levels. The attendees also discussed the exchange visits program at the technical level to organize close cooperation between specialists of both companies and to achieve the ambitious goals as soon as possible.
Energoatom’s President noted that today's discussion laid the foundation for further cooperation. In turn, Holtec representatives expressed their readiness for even more active cooperation in order to implement the plans.
Lastly, Petro Kotin, expressing gratitude to the Holtec representatives for the meeting, stressed that the development of small modular reactors in Ukraine is crucial, first of all, for strengthening the energy security and independence of our state.
As a reminder, on April 21, 2023, the heads of Energoatom and the U.S. Holtec International Petro Kotin and Dr. Kris Singh signed an agreement on the construction of small modular reactors in Ukraine using Holtec technology.
