Energoatom and the Center for Strategic Communication and Information Security will develop a partnership in countering disinformation

On May 3, 2024, head of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom” Petro Kotin and head of the Center for Strategic Communication and Information Security Ihor Solovei signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The common goal of Energoatom and the Center is to work on the development of strategic communications, as well as jointly counter enemy propaganda and fakes.

Under current conditions, the development of the nuclear industry through the construction of new power units at the Ukrainian nuclear power plants is no-alternative course of Ukraine towards energy independence. At the same time, the narratives spread by the enemy are focused on defeating such plans. Therefore, only joint efforts in close communication with the specialists of the Center can effectively counteract the mentioned information threats.

During the meeting with representatives of the Center, head of Energoatom Petro Kotin stressed: “Misinformation directed against Energoatom interferes with both the image of the Company and the reputation of the country as a whole. That's why we must work together to resist information threats, not giving the aggressor any chance to interfere with the work of Energoatom in fulfilling the tasks assigned to it – providing Ukraine and Ukrainians with stable electricity.”

In his turn, head of the Center Ihor Solovei emphasized the following: “the specialists of the Center are fighting against russian informational aggression, therefore they perfectly understand the problems of informational threats to the nuclear power industry of our country. And the cooperation of the Center and Energoatom in countering disinformation is an important step in responding to modern challenges facing the entire country and the power industry.” The mentioned Memorandum formalized relations between the parties, and in the future, it will contribute to even more objective information about the current state and development of the nuclear power industry of Ukraine.
