The russian military placed at least 14 units of heavy military equipment with ammunition, weapons and explosives in the turbine hall of ZNNP power unit 1.
The entire arsenal of heavy equipment with all ammunition is currently placed very close to the equipment ensuring the operation of the turbine generator. In particular, in the immediate vicinity to the main lube oil unit, containing highly inflammable oil that cools the steam turbine. There is also highly explosive hydrogen there, which is used to cool the generator.
The military equipment of the invaders precluded the access of specialized fire-fighting and other vehicles to the turbine hall of power unit 1. Therefore, the fire risk rises exponentially, while its extinguishing becomes extremely challenging. In case of fire, for example, due to the accidental detonation of ammunition, its scale can be equal to the one that occurred during the accident at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant!
The occupiers continue to cynically violate all standards and requirements regarding fire, nuclear and radiation safety of the NPP operation by keeping heavy military equipment, ammunition, weapons and explosives just in the turbine hall of the power unit of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe.
Energoatom once again insists on the need to liberate the Zaporizhzhya NPP as soon as possible and for the umpteenth time appeals to the international community to take the necessary measures given that only Ukraine can guarantee the smooth and safe ZNPP operation!
