NNEGC «Energoatom» is fully engaged in projects undertaking examination and safety and effectiveness analysis of small modular reactors in order to introduce the technology in Ukraine.
Preliminary agreements have been reached on cooperation in this field with the U.S. NuScale and the British Rolls-Royce.
In 2029, the implementation of SMR projects is expected to start upon the technology certification and licensing procedures.

possibility of commercial hydrogen production, heating, water desalination;
support for intermittent renewables.
Furthermore, in the years ahead, SMR will play a key role in the gradual replacement of coal-fired thermal power plants to be decommissioned.
