Rivne NPP obtained technical assistance from Norway and Sweden

As part of an international technical assistance (ITA) project, the Metal Inspection Service (MIS) at Rivne NPP has received new inspection tools.

The humanitarian supply of the necessary equipment is aimed at the safety upgrading of Ukrainian NPPs and strengthening the country's energy sector amidst russia's full-scale invasion.

The assistance provided by the Norwegian Institute for Energy Technology (IFE) and the Swedish Qualification Authority (SQC) includes:

  • portable direct-reading and personal accumulative dosimeters (to protect personnel during radiographic monitoring);
  • professional negatoscope for X-ray image interpretation (provides an opportunity to clearly identify the inconsistencies in welded joints);
  • densitometer (for high-precision measurement of optical density of X-ray films directly on the screen of the negatoscope);
  • ERESCO 300 mobile X-ray machine (for metal inspection of equipment up to 60-65 mm thick even in the field).

Rivne NPP was the first among Ukrainian nuclear power plants to start cooperation with Scandinavian countries on a safety upgrade program.
