Petro Kotin discussed cooperation in nuclear sector with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic

On July 26, 2023, President of SE "NNEGC "Energoatom" Petro Kotin held a meeting with Special Envoy of the Czech Republic for Energy Security Vaclav Bartuška and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Ukraine Radek Matula.

During the meeting, the importance of the decisions made by the Czech nuclear industry to reduce the influence of the russian federation on the development of nuclear generation was discussed.

Even earlier, the Czech Republic refused russian nuclear fuel, announcing the choice of an alternative supplier. Moreover, since January 1, 2023, the national operator of the country's nuclear power plants transferred from moscow to Paris Center of the World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO).

Petro Kotin emphasized that after the outbreak of the full-scale invasion of russia, Ukraine did not cooperate with the aggressor country, in particular in the nuclear industry, and became the first state that managed to completely abandon russian nuclear fuel.

Another topic of discussion was promising areas of cooperation between the two countries, primarily the deepening of cooperation between Energoatom and Czech nuclear companies.

In turn, the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic expressed their readiness to deepen collaboration for the successful development of nuclear generation in European countries.

For reference: SE "NNEGC "Energoatom" cooperates with Czech nuclear power plants within the framework of WANO membership through participation in joint programs and activities aimed at strengthening the nuclear safety of nuclear power plants.
