Energoatom and mayors of satellite cities of NPPs agreed on joint activities to provide humanitarian aid, promote protection of critical infrastructure facilities and human life support in the cities during the war

Today, June 22, 2022, a meeting of the representatives of Company's management and its trade union with the mayors of satellite cities of nuclear power plants and Directors General of NPPs took place in the premises of SE «NNEGC «Energoatom». The thorough discussions were held related to the joint activities of Energoatom, trade unions of the Company’s Head Office and its nuclear power plants, Directors General of NPPs and mayors of satellite cities on protection of critical infrastructure, as well as providing assistance to Ukrainian defenders, NPP employees and their families, internally displaced persons.

The event was attended by Energoatom President Petro Kotin, People's Deputy of Ukraine Artem Chornomorov, the Head of Energoatom trade union Oleksiy Lych and the Executive Director for Human Resources Oleh Boyaryntsev, Mayor of Enerhodar Dmytro Orlov, Mayor of Netishyn Oleksandr Suprunyuk, Mayor of Varash Oleksandr Menzul, Mayor of Slavutych Yurii Fomichev, Acting Mayor of Yuzhnoukrainsk Oleksandr Akulenko as well as Directors General of Rivne, South Ukraine and Khmelnytskyy nuclear power plants.

The event summed up the results of collecting and sending humanitarian aid, which has not been stopped by Energoatom's Head Office, its trade union, all separated subdivisions of the Company, as well as charitable organizations and international partners of NNEGC. Further steps of effective assistance have been outlined for the defenders of Ukraine, the nuclear power workers of the temporarily occupied ZNPP, the residents of Enerhodar and other victims of the russian invaders. They also discussed acute issues of human life support of satellite cities during the war, and particularly the occupied Enerhodar.

Following the meeting, the parties adopted a joint declaration, which envisages:

  • continuation of active work to provide assistance to residents of the occupied and liberated territories, employees of ZNPP, the Armed Forces and the National Guard of Ukraine;

  • joint participation in the post-war reconstruction of NPP satellite cities affected by the occupation;

  • strengthening coordination of preparation and delivery of relief consignments;

  • promoting the protection of strategic facilities – nuclear power plants, infrastructure and critical facilities of NPP satellite cities, as well as personnel;

  • employment and creation of new jobs for internally displaced persons – residents of Enerhodar and employees of Zaporizhzhya NPP;

  • solving issues of housing and utility services and infrastructure of NPP satellite cities;

  • promoting the social, medical, educational, cultural and sporting development of local communities;

  • addressing other urgent issues of socio-economic development of NPP satellite cities.
