Dear colleagues, dear nuclear power professionals!
I congratulate you on our professional holiday – Power Engineer's Day! Despite all the challenges posed by the war, we continue to hold the energy frontline. The enemy attacks on our energy infrastructure have not broken us but only hardened us. Due to your dedication and professionalism, Ukrainians have light, heat, and hope for a better future.
Energoatom employees' competence is recognized not only in Ukraine but also abroad. Ukrainian nuclear power professionals were invited by the leading U.S. company Holtec to participate in deploying a small modular reactor unit at the Palisades NPP in the United States.
Energoatom, jointly with American partners, will build an SMR manufacturing plant in Ukraine. This is a new, much-needed technology for Ukraine, which will strengthen its energy independence and economy. Together with Holtec, we will also build a plant for the production of spent nuclear fuel casks.
Another significant direction that Energoatom is moving in is the construction of a domestic line to manufacture our nuclear fuel using Westinghouse technology.
The Company has begun preparing the Khmelnytskyi NPP site for the completion of two VVER-1000 power units and the construction of two more new power units based on the U.S. AP1000 project.
Our pain – Zaporizhzhia NPP – has been under occupation for three years now, but we do not forget about it for a minute. We continue to fight for the return of ZNPP under the control of Ukraine. The only way to prevent an incident at the power plant is to fully demilitarize and de-occupy the plant and regain control over it.
Despite the challenging times for the whole country, our Company is confidently moving forward: we are modernizing facilities, introducing new technologies, and making plans for the development of nuclear energy. Thanks to this, Energoatom remains the basis of the country's energy stability.
The Energoatom team is behind these achievements. It is the strength and pride of the Company. The endurance, competence, and unity of Ukrainian nuclear power professionals deserve the most sincere honor, deep respect, and boundless gratitude.
I wish you good health, family warmth, peace, and new achievements. May your inner energy always return to you with kindness and gratitude!
Happy holiday, dear nuclear power professionals!
Sincerely yours,
Petro Kotin
