Energoatom President Petro Kotin: one more NPP reactor unit was connected to the power grid ahead of schedule

From now on, all 9 power units of domestic NPPs, located in the Ukraine-controlled territory, are operating at full capacity, by generating more than half of all electricity in Ukraine.

On the night of November 19, 2023, the last, ninth, Energoatom reactor unit of those located in the Ukraine-controlled territory was connected to the power grid after scheduled maintenance.

«We promised to complete the repair campaign and connect all available power units to the grid before the onset of cold weather. Today, I am proud to report that we have done it. Over the past months, the power units were refueled with new nuclear fuel and scheduled work was carried out for their effective operation during the autumn-winter period,» President of SE «NNEGC «Energoatom» Petro Kotin said.

He added that in winter, nuclear generation will provide more than 50% of the electricity Ukraine needs and, like last year, will become the basis of the country's power generation.

The head of the Company thanked the nuclear power professionals who conducted this repair campaign professionally and ahead of schedule:

«Energoatom specialists once again proved their high skill level, doing everything to ensure the repair campaign took place as quickly as possible, and Ukrainians were stably supplied with electricity. The task given by Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko has been fulfilled: all 9 units are operating in the power system after high-quality repairs.»
