The Holtec Advisory Board includes acknowledged leaders of the nuclear power industry, whose companies closely cooperate with Holtec International, namely Bruce Power, Energoatom, Entergy, Exelon Generation, Southern, Talen Energy, NEI, SNC-Lavalin, Mitsubishi Electric, Hyundai E&C, etc.
Holtec President and CEO Dr. Kris Singh welcomed Petro Kotin and expressed his support for the Ukrainians in their fight against the russian invaders. He noted that the American nuclear companies, just like the people of the United States, continue to stand with Ukraine in the bloody war unleashed by russia.
Energoatom President thanked his colleagues for their support and emphasized that Holtec International is a reliable partner not only in matters of safe handling of spent nuclear fuel but also in the field of deployment of small modular reactors (SMRs) in Ukraine.
"According to the concept of SMR deploying in Ukraine, Energoatom plans to build a series of such reactors to replace primarily the coal-fired generation destroyed due to russian aggression. And the SMR-160 technology from Holtec International is one of the opportunities for Ukraine to strengthen its energy independence," Petro Kotin stressed.
As a reminder, the U.S. company Holtec International, a long-term partner of Energoatom, served as the contractor for the construction of the Centralized Spent Fuel Storage Facility, which was put into operation in April 2022.
