On October 17, 2023, an online event regarding the corporatization of SE "NNEGC "Energoatom" was held, organized with the support of Deloitte Ukraine, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the U. S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
The workshop was attended, in particular, by the Vice President of Energoatom Hartmut Jacob as well as representatives of other ministries of Ukraine, the EBRD, the World Bank, USAID, the European Delegation to Ukraine, the IMF representation in Ukraine, the ministries of energy of the EU and the USA, the embassies of Germany, Denmark, Great Britain and USA, State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine and State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine.
The event was aimed at raising the awareness of international partners, representatives of the state authorities of Ukraine and members of the energy sector about the concept and course of corporatization of SE "NNEGC "Energoatom".
"The transformation process as a whole is ongoing according to schedule," Vice President of Energoatom Hartmut Jacob assured. "We are familiar with the corporatization experience of other state-owned enterprises in our country, so Energoatom is not the first one on this path. Meanwhile, the experience of foreign companies in the nuclear sector was analyzed as well. We strive and work to make Energoatom a model of modern corporate governance and a successful case of transformation of a state-owned enterprise into a joint-stock company," he added.
For reference: On October 19, 2022, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in the first reading adopted a draft law on the transformation of a state-owned enterprise into a joint-stock company "NNEGC "Energoatom", 100% shares of which will be state-owned. Almost four months later, people's deputies adopted the draft law in the second reading. Moreover, already in late February 2023, the parliament finally approved Energoatom’s corporatization, and the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the corresponding Law.
According to President of SE "NNEGC "Energoatom" Petro Kotin, new opportunities will open up for the newly created joint-stock company, which, in turn, will prompt a further review of business models, strategies and organizational structures. The formation of a new Supervisory Committee, development and approval of the charter are steps that are an integral part of corporatization.
