Energoatom starts construction of the production facility for manufacture of small modular reactors (SRM) using the technology of the American company Holtec in Ukraine

Acting CEO of NNEGC “Energoatom” Petro Kotin and President and CEO of Holtec International Dr. Kris Singh signed the General Agreement on the transfer of Holtec technology for the production of SMR components to Energoatom in Ukraine.

Another point of the agreement provides for the creation of a Ukrainian production facility for manufacture of components of the dry spent fuel storage, which have been manufactured in the USA until now.

The signing of the document took place with the participation of Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko, Director of the Department of Energy and Energy Attaché at the US Embassy in Kyiv Shawn Anderson, and Vice President of Ukraine Operations for Holtec International Riaz Awan.

This agreement is important not only for Energoatom, but also for the entire power industry of Ukraine.

The implementation of its provisions will contribute to post-war recovery and economic development, the creation of jobs, establishment of modern production facilities and development of educational programs, and thus help our state become a regional technology hub for SMR-300 and Holtec spent fuel technologies.

Ukraine will become a hub of nuclear technologies for the whole of Europe!
