Tymofiy Mylovanov, a member of the Supervisory Board of JSC “NNEGC “Energoatom”, is convinced of this. After all, in the context of the war with russia, nuclear generation has become the key in the national energy mix given other types of generation are regularly attacked by the enemy.
“Nuclear power plants that produce electricity steadily are a matter of survival. If there were no nuclear power, the situation with electricity would be much worse,” he said. He also emphasized that two approaches should be followed in the further development of the domestic energy sector: expanding nuclear generation and developing renewable energy sources.
Tymofiy Mylovanov praised Energoatom's preparation for the autumn-winter period and the Company's achievements in getting rid of dependence on russia in the supply of key elements and nuclear fuel.
“Just 10-15 years ago, the Ukrainian nuclear energy sector was dependent on the aggressor country. Today, the Company has radically changed the situation. In addition, during the war, Energoatom successfully completed the repair campaign, preparing all power units for winter. I do not like to talk about heroism, but in this case, it is true,” he said.
He also noted that it is important for Ukraine to return the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, Zaporizhzhia NPP, under its control, as it is a key component in the development of Ukrainian industry and economy.
