Energoatom and Holtec continue to implement joint projects despite all the challenges of the war

That was stated by Riaz Awan, Vice President of the American company Holtec International, within the framework of the International Conference “Nuclear Energy Opportunities for Country’s Development: Wartime and Postwar Reconstruction”, organized by Energoatom.

He emphasized that the companies remain strategic partners and continue implementing the projects for the deployment of SMR 300 and establishing a manufacturing plant for the production of component parts for small modular reactors and CSFSF. Energoatom and Holtec are also working on establishing an engineering and technical center.

Riaz Awan stressed that the implementation of those projects would give an opportunity not only to provide Ukraine with the necessary components and technologies, but also to export them to European countries in order to rid the region of dependence on the russian federation.

At the same time, Vice President of Holtec highly appreciated the efforts of NNEGC in the conditions of existing challenges. “No company in the world is going through this, what Energoatom is going through. No nuclear utility in the United States, or in Europe, or in Asia is operating the reactors when the bombs and drones are falling on the country. When the electric grid stations are being attacked. But Energoatom is doing a great job, providing electricity and when the reactors are operating,” he said.

According to him, international partners express deep trust both in the leadership of Energoatom and in the employees, who remain brave despite any difficulties: “On a scale from 1 to 10, I would give them 20.”
