On the sidelines of the 68th IAEA General Conference, Head of JSC NNEGC “Energoatom” Petro Kotin held talks with Bernard Fontana, the top manager of the French Framatome – a subsidiary of Électricité de France (EDF).
Head of Energoatom told about the regular shelling of the national energy infrastructure by the russian military, as well as about massive missile attacks and launches of enemy unmanned aerial vehicles, which endanger nuclear safety in Ukraine.
Petro Kotin emphasized that Energoatom is ready to strengthen cooperation with EDF and its subsidiaries, including Framatome, in particular regarding the exchange of experience in the NPP safe operation and the supply of nuclear fuel components for VVER reactors in Eastern Europe. In fact, the joint work of both companies can significantly strengthen the energy security of the entire European region and give a new impetus to the development of European nuclear generation.
Earlier, Energoatom and EDF had signed a memorandum on cooperation. At the meeting in Vienna, the heads of the companies agreed to intensify activities within the framework of joint projects and to continue negotiations at the technical level.✍️
