On July 11, 2022, SE «NNEGC» «Energoatom» and Westinghouse Electric Company signed a new contract to deep cooperation in the construction of new, 5th and 6th, AP1000® power units at the Khmelnytskyy NPP. According to the agreement, Energoatom's long-term partner, Westinghouse, will provide AP1000® plant technical information in support of Energoatom’s feasibility study update for the construction of new units. The effort will facilitate the expansion of cooperation between the companies as well as commence the licensing process and further develop Ukraine’s clean energy initiatives.

We value our partnership with Westinghouse to work collaboratively and expeditiously to achieve key project milestones,” said Petro Kotin, President of SE «NNECG «Energoatom».
The President of Westinghouse Energy Systems, David Durham, noted that the company stands ready to provide the necessary technologies and equipment and emphasized that these were significant steps for Ukraine's energy independence. «We are continually inspired by our strategic partners’ unwavering determination and resilience”, he stressed.
