Connection between Zaporizhzhya NPP and IAEA is reestablished

Due to the joint efforts of NNEGC «Energoatom» and Vodafone, on Friday, June 10, 2022, the connection between the ZNPP nuclear material monitoring servers and the IAEA was reestablished.

The connection was lost on May 30, 2022, when the russian occupationists cut off the Ukrainian mobile operator Vodafone in Enerhodar with which the International Atomic Energy Agency has a contract for data transmission.

However, all data for this period were stored on secure ZNPP servers and transferred to the IAEA immediately after the connection was restored about which the corresponding message from the Agency was received.

It was the lack of these data at the IAEA and the inability to obtain them in the usual manner – via a mobile operator – Mr. Grossi, Director General of the IAEA, announced at the IAEA Board of Governors as the key reason for visiting ZNPP in person.

This issue has been addressed by the joint efforts of Energoatom and Vodafone.
