#STANDWITHUKRAINE

At night, the ZNPP lost the connection to its main 750 kV high-voltage line – the power plant is on the verge of another blackout

On August 10, the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant lost the connection to its main external power transmission line with a voltage of 750 kV.

After that, the ZNPP had to switch to its only available 330 kV back-up power line, the disconnection of which threatens the loss of external power (blackout).

Under such a scenario, the major threat to nuclear and radiation safety is being of Zaporizhzhya NPP power unit 4 in a «hot shutdown» state, which the occupationists are operating in violation of the terms of the license for the operation of the NPP reactor installations of the Ukrainian regulator (State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine).

As noted by Acting Executive Director for Operation and Repairs of SE «NNEGC «Energoatom» Taras Tkach, in the event of a complete loss of external power, the power plant's reactor coolant pumps will be turned off – and the power unit will switch to the «natural circulation» mode: «In this case, it is necessary to urgently "cool it down" given the lack of cooling pumps».

Such a mode is challenging for the reactor installation, its duration is limited by the design, and it could entail the failure of the power unit's essential equipment.

We stress: the further occupation of the ZNPP by russia, the management of the plant by an illegitimate and untrained ruscist administration, which does not bear any responsibility for the nuclear and radiation safety of the facility, is constantly bringing the ZNPP closer to disaster.

That is why the Zaporizhzhya NPP should be immediately returned to the full control of the legal operator – NNEGC «Energoatom», with the subsequent bringing of the plant to normal operating mode and renewal of the facility's nuclear and radiation safety.

This requires urgent action by the entire international community!

The nuclear terrorism of the russian federation must be stopped immediately, while the invaders must leave the territory of the power plant and its satellite town of Enerhodar!
