Energoatom’s President held a meeting with UK Export Finance leadership
During his visit to London for the World Nuclear Symposium 2023, President of SE "NNEGC "Energoatom" Petro Kotin met with the UK Export Finance CEO Tim Reid and the UKEF team.
Petro Kotin thanked the UKEF for the decision to provide Energoatom with a credit guarantee in the amount of GBP 192 million for the purchase of uranium enrichment services from the Urenco company:
"This decision is now crucial for Ukraine, especially in the conditions when the energy infrastructure is under constant enemy attacks and Ukrainian nuclear plants are assigned to providing citizens and commercial consumers with electricity. We must strengthen Ukraine's energy security and contribute to the economy."
Energoatom’s President also expressed deep gratitude to the British government for supporting Ukraine in the fight against the aggressor.
The British Board of Trade and the Ministry of Power took part in the negotiation of credit guarantees for Energoatom.
"Provision of these guarantees will not only strengthen the work of the Ukrainian energy system in general and nuclear plants in particular, but also demonstrates the international recognition of Energoatom as a reliable and stable company that deserves to be entrusted with such a large sum," Petro Kotin highlighted. "It is also very important for us to point out that the provision of the UKEF guarantee to Energoatom was the first project in the history of this deeply respected organization in the field of nuclear energy, and it provides an excellent example for other global financial institutions."
The head of Energoatom also thanked the entire team of the Company's financial and economic experts, "who, under the leadership of its Vice President Hartmut Jacob, worked on the project for the past two years, which gave us the opportunity to convince our respected UKEF partners of the reliability of such lending."
In turn, UKEF representatives assured that the British government stands with and will continue to stand with Ukraine.
