On August 8, 2023, President of SE "NNEGC "Energoatom" Petro Kotin met with Chargé d'affaires of Sweden in Ukraine Lennart Linner.
The parties discussed relations between Energoatom and Swedish companies in the nuclear sector.
Having expressed gratitude for the technical and humanitarian assistance, as well as the steadfast support of Ukraine from the very beginning of the russian invasion, Petro Kotin highlighted the importance of the international community's pressure on russia and the need to impose sanctions against Rosatom in order to prevent the russian state corporation from building new units or completing those which are already under construction.
For reference: since January 1, 2023, an international consortium led by Westinghouse Electric Sweden has been implementing a project to enhance the security of fuel supply for nuclear reactors built in the EU and Ukraine using the Soviet VVER-440 technology.
As a reminder, Energoatom has already started in-house manufacturing of nuclear fuel components. They will be delivered to Västerös (Sweden) for the production of nuclear fuel, which will then be used at Ukrainian NPPs.
