Energoatom reduces the repair time of power units – Petro Kotin

On August 7, 2023, President of SE "NNEGC "Energoatom" Petro Kotin visited one of the domestic nuclear power plants. In 101 days, 15 days ahead of schedule, the repair of one more power unit, which has already been connected to the grid, was completed there. Thus, the unified power system of Ukraine was strengthened by an additional 1000 MW of electricity.

As Petro Kotin emphasized, scheduled maintenance on nuclear power units is being carried out smoothly, 5 power units have already been repaired, and maintenance of four more is underway.

"Ukrainian nuclear power professionals," he stressed, "are working to their limits and doing their best to ensure that in winter nuclear power plants produce the maximum amount of electricity and provide Ukrainians with it." This work is carried out non-stop in order to connect the power units to the grid as soon as possible. From Energoatom – to Ukraine and Ukrainians!"

The Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko reiterated that now is the peak of the repair campaign in the energy sector – the most extensive over the whole period of independence of our state.

"I’m grateful to the nuclear engineers who brought the NPP power unit out of repair ahead of schedule. It is a big deal given nuclear industry ensures the stability of the power system, by generating more than half of Ukraine's energy needs. Generally speaking, personnel of all types of power generation and distribution networks work 24/7 to prepare the power system for winter in time," the Minister noted.

As a reminder, on Saturday, August 5, 2023, one more Energoatom’s VVER-1000 power unit was reconnected to the power grid after scheduled maintenance.
