Energoatom CEO Petro Kotin and representatives of the delegation of the Department of Energy and the US Embassy discussed technical and humanitarian support of Energoatom from the US Government and companies during the full-scale aggression of the Russian Federation and areas of cooperation in the field of nuclear energy:
the need for technical support during repairs of important NPP equipment;
reliable supply of nuclear fuel and spent fuel management;
readiness for the heating season;
providing updated information on the status of domestic NPPs;
situation at ZNPP.
Petro Kotin thanked the American side for the assistance provided for the safe operation of Ukrainian NPPs, in particular from the Argonne National Laboratory.
Damian Peko, head of the U.S. nuclear safety cooperation program with Ukraine commended Energoatom’s efforts to maintain the safe operation of its nuclear power plants during the conflict. He expressed the U.S. Department of Energy’s intent to continue to evaluate risks to safety, security, and generation at Energoatom’s nuclear power plants.
