At the meeting in the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine Petro Kotin expressed his gratitude to the U.S. for the strong support of Ukraine and described the company’s activities during the russian aggression. The main topic of discussions was the situation at the occupied Zaporizhzhya NPP. Petro Kotin emphasized that complete safety at ZNPP can be achieved through joint efforts of the global community. The world must continue to urge russia to provide access to all plant facilities for the IAEA inspection mission in the shortest time.
Christopher Smith supported the urgency of carrying out an independent inspection at ZNPP and stressed that the United States will continue to support Ukraine’s efforts to return the largest nuclear power plant in Europe under the full control of the Ukrainian operator.
The parties reaffirmed that the only guarantee of safe operation of the Zaporizhzhya NPP is complete demilitarization of the plant site and Energodar.
