That was announced by the Head of Energoatom Petro Kotin during his conversation with journalists. According to him, Energoatom's strategic partner Westinghouse is conducting a GAP analysis that will assist in enhancement of the safety systems of new nuclear power plants.
“Westinghouse will analyze the aspects that need to be added to the initial design of the VVER-1000 power unit in order to bring it to the III+ safety level. This is today's most modern technology with the best safety systems,” Head of NNEGC explained.
Petro Kotin also emphasized that several additional safety systems are currently being designed with the participation of Westinghouse, and these will be implemented on Units 3 and 4 of the Khmelnytsky NPP in the future.
