In the conditions of a full-scale invasion of russia into Ukraine, Energoatom continues developing Ukrainian nuclear generation. During this period, the Company has got remarkable achievements for the industry by strengthening cooperation with international partners.
Energoatom together with Westinghouse have been able to replace russian nuclear fuel with American one, in particular for the VVER-440 reactors. First, this fact has proved that russia is no longer a monopolist in the production of such fuel. And second, Ukraine finally has got rid of dependence on the russian federation in the nuclear industry.
Energoatom has launched the process preceding the construction of the Technological Complex for the production of fuel assemblies using Westinghouse technology.
NNEGC will receive the Holtec technology for manufacturing components of small modular reactors in Ukraine. The corresponding agreement was signed by Head of Energoatom Petro Kotin and President and CEO of Holtec International Dr. Kris Singh.
Energoatom and Holtec plan to build a plant for the manufacture of components for dry spent fuel storage on the territory of our country.
At the same time, the Company started construction of two power units using Westinghouse AP1000 technology at the Khmelnytsky NPP. Repair and restoration works on power units 3 and 4 are also actively underway at the plant site.
In today's realities, nuclear generation is the main hope for providing citizens and industry with electricity.
Energoatom will continue developing national nuclear generation despite any difficulties for the future growth of energy independence of our country!
